Mumbai, June 25: After the railway tracks were inundated with the heavy downpour in Mumbai, train services were badly affected between Bhilad and Sanjan. The western railway division cancelled and rescheduled several express trains on this route.
In the latest development, railway authority in one of its tweets stated that the track restoration work has been undertaken. Moreover, to avoid the untoward situation, the western railways has directed the loco-pilots to run the express trains on the routes at the restricted speed limit.
The rail authorities state that apart from the track restoration work, the railway officials have been supervising the work personally and providing all required assistance. The route is important as trains going to the northern regions-- Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat are affected.
The heavy rains have prompted the authorities to reschedule the trains since the tracks have been submerged under water. As per information from the western railways, the Mumbai-bound UP trains (12954,12922, 59038,22956, 12009 & 22953) have started moving from the respective stations where they were regulated due to flooding between Bhilad and Sanjan. Similarly, Bikaner ExpressTrain No. 12480, which was to depart from the Bandra Terminus at 1:30 on June 25 has been rescheduled at 3:15 pm.

From Sunday, the Konkan belt including Mumbai has been experiencing a heavy rainfall with several parts of the city witnessing waterlogging issues and various rain-related incidents. Cars parked at one of the roads at Wadala near Lloyds building were buried after heavy rains lashed the city. Moreover, a 15-year-old boy was killed and his parents were injured after a wall collapsed on their house at Wadol village in Ambernath taluka of Thane on Monday.
According to private weather forecast agency Skymet, rains in Mumbai have crossed the 200 mm mark in 24 hours. "In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz recorded 231 mm of rains. Expect showers to be as intense today as well", it tweeted. While the city will experience heavy showers for 24 hours.
While the western railway in its tweet also stated that despite heavy rain the train service is running, with some delay.
