Kolkata, Aug 28: The ruling TMC in West Bengal and the opposition Congress and CPI(M) have decided not to attend the condolence meeting for former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee being organised by the BJP's state unit here tomorrow. The three parties said as they have already attended the condolence meeting organised by the BJP's central unit in New Delhi and so there is no need for them to participate in a condolence meeting organised locally. BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha said the decision of the three political parties in the state proves the nexus among them. Senior CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty said, "Our party leaders have already attended the condolence meeting organised by the BJP in New Delhi. So there is no need to attend the condolence meet here." Echoing similar views, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury said the party's senior leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh had attended Vajpayee's funeral. Senior Congress leaders had also taken part in the condolence meeting in the national capital. The Trinamool Congress too said its leaders had attended the condolence meeting in New Delhi.

The West Bengal BJP unit had invited Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Adhir Chowdhury, CPI(M) state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra and Left Front chairman Biman Bose for the condolence meeting which is scheduled to be held at Mahajati Sadan.

Reacting to the decision of the three parties, BJP leader Rahul Sinha said, "We have been saying this for a long time that the TMC, Congress and CPI(M) are on the same page when it comes to opposing BJP. As soon as the TMC declined to attend the meet the two other parties have followed its footsteps. This only proves their nexus." "In the days to come we will fight this nexus to free Bengal from the misrule of the TMC," he said.
