New Delhi, May 9: As there was massive hype around the storm in Delhi and NCR area, across all the media channels, it seemed the storm never quite arrived on Tuesday. According to a report on Times of India, there were moderately high-winds and light rains in the city, but nothing in comparison to the hype that was created.
Reportedly, Delhi’s disaster management (DDMA) helpline, 1077, kept buzzing throughout the day, as anxiety level of the residents were at its peak. From asking the helpline operators if they can step out, when is the storm arriving? They were being bombarded with calls from worried, and anxious people in the city.

According to a release by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather department alerted people of a thunderstorm, rains, dust storms, accompanied by gusty winds. As per the release, the winds speed was expected to vary between 50 and 70 km per hour. On Monday, soon after the alert, the Directorate of Education (DoE) said all evening schools would remain closed. Other schools were asked not to hold outdoor activities.
The Delhi government on Monday issued an advisory and urged people to monitor the media for updates and warning instructions. The report added not to take a bath during the storm as lightning can travel along pipes, and to unplug electrical equipment”.
