Threat to PM Narendra Modi; 'All-Time High' Alert Issued, Even Ministers won't be Allowed Near

New Delhi, June 26: The Home Ministry has sent out warning about ‘all-time high’ threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ministry has also set rules in which no one will be allowed to come close to the PM without the approval of special security. Even ministers and officers will have to clear the security check. All state police chiefs have also been alerted by the minister about an "unknown threat" to the PM Modi. According to National Security Council, PM Modi is the most valuable target during 2019 general elections.

"The threat always has been there but after this Naxal threat we have made each agency aware of the new threats to the PM," reported NDTV quoting a senior officer as saying. The Pune police had seized a letter from suspected naxalite, in which it was mentioned to assassinate the PM in a "Rajiv Gandhi-type incident" during one of his roadshows. Citing sources, NDTV reported that the PM had been advised to cut down on road shows.

Special instruction has also been given to ‘close protection group’ around PM. As per the ministry, the PM’s public contact has to be reduced. Last month, a man after trespassing PM’s security, managed to touch his feet in West Bengal. Tactical commandoes team travelling with PM Modi will also be increased.

According to a report published in NDTV, The home ministry has asked Maoist-hit states to be more careful, and even security agencies are believed to be especially monitoring are also monitoring the Kerala-based Popular Front of India (PFI), a fundamentalist group accused of being linked to the global terror network.
