In a recent controversy, BJP MLA Surendra Singh has made an absurd comment and said that roads and monuments named after Mughal Emperors should be renamed. According to a NewsX report, when asked about what should Taj Mahal be renamed to he said, "Make it Shivaji Mahal or Ram Mahal or Krishna Mahal or anything else."

He further went on to state, "As Taj Mahal should not be destroyed as someone had erected the building using our land resources that belong to India. Someone used India’s resources and the construction worker’s. So, its name should be changed. When asked what should be the name of Taj Mahal be, he said we would make it Ram Mahal or Krishna Mahal. If I am heard, it should be called Rashtrabhakt Mahal.”

This is not the first time that Surendra Singh has invited trouble for his absurd comments. He had received immense flak for comparing government officials with prostitutes, saying that prostitutes have better character than government officials. Previously he had also made a controversial comment, where he compared West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee with Surpanakaha, a sister of demon king Ravana.
