Swachh Sarvekshan Gramin 2018: Satara District of Maharashtra Bags Top Spot of Being Cleanest Among Rural Areas

Maharashtra, September 27: Satara district has been ranked number one in India, in Swachh Sarvekshan Gramin 2018. The district has been ranked at the top place in India on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters in rural areas. It has been declared the cleanest district in the country.
According to the Lok Satta report, the prize will be given at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 2. In the earlier years, Satara Zilla Parishad had earlier secured third place in the country by constructing toilets. The Centre had conducted a survey of 6,980 villages in 698 districts of the country. 100 marks in the quantitative and qualitative analysis were done. In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in April had declared rural areas of the state open defecation-free (ODF) and claimed the state had constructed the highest number of toilets in the country.
