New Delhi, Aug 14: Intelligence agencies and the Delhi Police have recieved an input that a suspected terrorist wearing the uniform of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was roaming in the national capital ahead of Independence Day, after which an alert of the highest category was sounded. According to the intelligence input, the terror suspect posing as an IAF officer was roaming around in Connaught Place.

On Sunday evening, a retired IAF officer saw the suspect near Rajiv Chowk metro station wearing an IAF uniform along with sports shoes — something which the force personnel would never do. He immidiately alert the police, however, the suspect fled from the spot by the cops reached there. This came after inputs of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists having entered the capital.

Ahead of the Independence Day, Delhi has turned into a fortress. The national capital has been put under a security blanket with 50 companies of security agencies, Delhi Police personnel and 150 kite catchers deployed in view of the Independence Day celebrations. An all-woman Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team will be deployed at strategic locations.

Snipers have been stationed atop high-rise buildings while scores of CCTV cameras keeping a tight vigil on people's movements. Vulnerable places such as crowded markets, railway stations, bus stands and other high-value establishments have been identified, and efforts have been made to secure them.
