Jammu, Feb 13: The death toll in the militant strike at Army's Sunjwan camp here has jumped to seven. The body of another jawan was recovered on Tuesday, a couple of days after five soldiers and one civilian sustained fatal bullet injuries during the gunfight with the intruding Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.

The deceased, belonging to Kashmir, has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Qurashi S/O Amanullah Qurashi. He was part of the J&K Light Infantry Brigade.

Out of the five jawans whose bodies were recovered earlier, four were Kashmiris and one of them was from Jammu's Kathua district.

While the attack was initially attributed to cross-border terror group Jaish-e-Muhammad, its responsibility on Monday was claimed by LeT, led by 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.

A day after the attack at Sunjwan camp, a military strike was reported at the Army's camp in Karan Nagar, on the outskirts of Srinagar. 1 jawan was killed in the encounter with the militatants.

Reacting to the twin terror assaults, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the attacks were abated by Pakistan. "They will pay a price for this misadventure. We will provide them with the evidence, as well as a befitting response," she added.
