Mau, April 8: A sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh's Mau town has been caught beating up a rape accused with a belt as the video of the same has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the sub-inspector is seen lashing the rape accused who is standing facing the wall. When queried, police said a departmental action will be taken against the erring officer.
Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, the police has resorted towards publicly shaming and humiliating those arrested on charges of rape, stalking, harassment and molestation.
Recently four rape accused were paraded in Bhopal where they were slapped by women. After objections were raised to the manner in which the accused were treated, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the steps taken by the police.
Chouhan said that those who eve-tease and harass girls and women and make it difficult for them to step out of their homes cannot claim human rights.
"There are no human rights of goondas (anti-social elements). The state government has zero tolerance for crimes against women," he was reported as saying.
