Gwalior, June 23: The Madhya Pradesh Police has claimed to have arrested the suspect who was captured in CCTV outside a wedding hall in Gwalior for raping and committing murder of a six-year-old girl. The accused has been identified as Jitendra Kushwah, an ice candy seller.

The girl had gone missing from a wedding party on Thursday night. The girl’s mutilated body was found on a hill in Amkhor area, near the wedding venue on Friday morning. The victim's face was smashed with a large rock. In the CCTV footage, it could be seen that man lured the girl out of her the venue at night. The man was also caught returning alone around 2:30 am.

As per the police, Kushwah who was drunk when he gate-crashed the venue for free meals, saw the girl and then reportedly lured her and took her along with him. He promised her that he would take her to her brothers, said police.

According to a report published in News18, the nearby cart pullers identified Kushwah during the police investigation. The police nabbed Kushwah from his home. The accused also confessed to the crime. The girl’s family belongs to Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh.​
