SBI Credit Card Fraud: 30 People Arrested in New Delhi For Cheating SBI Card Holders of Rs 5 Crore
The accused have been allegedly cheating 2000 SBI credit card holders since February this year.
New Delhi July 12: Around thirty people have been arrested for cheating SBI credit card holders of Rs 5 crore in the state. According to a PTI report, the accused were running a fake SBI credit card call centre by employing 22 telecallers to cheat the card holders from the bank. Their work was to get card details including OTP numbers through a website (www.jayyshree.com) to carry out transactions.
The accused have been allegedly cheating 2000 SBI credit card holders since February this year. Twenty-two of those arrested were telecallers, mostly women, who helped the other accused to carry out the crime. All the 30 accused were arrested on July 8 and produced before a local court in Delhi, which directed that the 22 telecallers appear before the Station House Officer of the Cyber Crimes Police Station on July 23.
To prevent such banking frauds from taking place, you need to be very careful. Don't entertain a call, where the person on the other side will ask you to share your PIN and other confidential card details. No bank is authorised to ask their customers via phone these details. Use a secure password for online banking. Never give your account information to anyone via email as well. Change your passwords regularly. Finally, check your account activity frequently. However, if you ever notice, any fraudulent activity in your account, immediately inform your bank.
