Meerut, June 18: Police in Saharanpur has booked Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Kunwar Ammar Ahmad for falsely projecting himself as the director of UP Cooperative Agri-industrial Equipment Distribution Corporation. According to a Times of India report, this position is equivalent to that of a minister of State in Yogi Adityanath's UP government.
To make it look real, he even uploaded on his Facebook account a fake identity card and a phoney appointment letter, which he claimed was issued by UP principal secretary.
He organised a welcome programme for himself last week and arrived with a line-up of guards at the venue. However, not a single BJP leader attended the function. Ahmad has been booked under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 170 (whoever pretends to hold any particular office as a public servant, knowing that he does not hold such office) and others relevant sections of the IPC. He has not been arrested till now.
