Mumbai, April 23: Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica Lal who was shot dead at a crowded party in April 1999, has no objection to the release of killer, Manu Sharma, who is serving life imprisonment in the murder case. According to a report in The Hindu, in a letter to the welfare office of Central Jail, Tihar, Sabrina has mentioned that, she has no objection to the release of Sharma as he has spent 15 years in prison.
According to a report in the Hindu, she has been quoted in the letter as saying, "I am also told that in this period he has been doing good work for charity and helping inmates in jail, which I feel is a reflection of reform. I do not require financial assistance from the victim welfare fund and request you to give the same to others, who are more in need."
Reportedly, Sabrina no longer holds any grudge against Sharma because she feels there is no point in doing so as she believe in the Christian philosophy of forgiveness. According to her, the culprit has already suffered in the last few years for his crime and she doesn't want to hold any grudge against him anymore. Recent reports state that Sharma has been staying in an "open jail" on grounds of good conduct. Sharma was sentenced to life in prison for killing Jessica Lal after she denied him a drink at a party.
