FIR Filed Against Robert Vadra in Gurugram Land Grab Case; What's New? He Asks

Gurugram, Sep 1: An FIR was registered against Robert Vadra, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, DLF Company Gurugram amd Onkareshwar Properties Gurugram in an alleged Gurugram land grab case. The FIR against Robert Vadra, who is son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi, and BS Hooda was lodged in Kherki Daula police station of Haryana on Saturday.
Robert Vadra and BS Hooda have been booked under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (fraud), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Reacting to the development, Vadra said the FIR was registered to divert the public attention from real issues. "Election season, increase in oil prices...so let’s divert real people’s issues with my decade old issue. What’s new?" Vadra told news agency ANI.
Vadra had purchased the land in Gurugram district at a cheaper rate and had sold it off to DLF after obtaining a licence for change of land use (CLU) from the then Congress government in Haryana led by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Vadra's company, Skylight Hospitality, sold a prime 3.5 acre plot in Manesar, Gurugram, to DLF in 2008 for Rs 58 crore.
The land had cost his company only around Rs 15 crore and was sold to DLF after obtaining CLU and other permissions, all within a short span of time, from the Hooda government. Vadra made a clear Rs 43 crore profit but did not share the profits with the Haryana's Town and Country Planning Department. The CAG had indicated that the Hooda government had obliged Vadra with quick sanction of the permissions required. The controversy became a national issue with opposition parties alleging that the then Congress government was doing everything to help Vadra in his land deals in the National Capital Region and areas around Delhi.
