'Road Safety Challenge': After Sports Minister's Fitness Challenge, UP DGP Dares Motorists to Abide by Rules
Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the fitness challenge issued to him by Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli.
Lucknow, May 27: In the backdrop of the fitness challenge, kick-started by Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, Uttar Pradesh DGP O P Singh has issued 'road safety challenge', daring motorists to abide by the rules.
The tweet posted on the UP DGP's official twitter handle drew traction as the clip he shared along with his post was viewed more than 9,000 times within the first six hours.
The clip shows how the motorists end up making lame excuses when caught without wearing helmets or seat-belts. It further highlights how the traffic police personnel reprimand the erring drivers, fining them and urging to abide by the safety norms.
Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the fitness challenge issued to him by Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli.
Modi, while addressing the nation via his Mann Ki Baat radio show today, said he will complete the challenge issued to him by Kohli. The Prime Minister further lauded Rathore, who is heading the Sports Ministry, for promoting such an initiative.
"A fit India should remain our priority. Physical fitness is essential to move ahead in life. I urge kids and the youth to dedicate some time out of their busy schedule towards outdoor games and activities," the PM said.
