New Delhi, August 27: In the ongoing fight between the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and food aggregators, the restaurant body has written a letter to Swiggy, Zomato, Uber Eats and Food Panda on Monday. In separate letters sent to these four companies, the letter highlighted several issues like-deep discounting, lack of transparency and abuse of dominant position by the aggregators. Zomato is Logging Out of the Logout Campaign, Says Deepinder Goyal While Backing Changes Made in Gold Plan.
Last week, a day after NRAI expressed their displeasure over the changes made to Zomato's Gold programme, founder and chief executive Deepinder Goyal on Thursday took to Twitter to back his company’s stand on dine-in discount offers.
In a tweet, he said, "We stand by the changes we are making to Gold—they are in the supreme interest of the restaurants and valued partners. Zomato is logging out of the logout campaign. We have said enough and we are getting back to work. I am confident better business sense will prevail at the end, said Goyal in a tweet."
NRAI in a statement last week said that the restaurants would not come back until the “deep-discounting phenomenon” is off the table. Around 2,000 restaurants in several major Indian cities have reportedly de-listed themselves from the dine-in programmes of services like Zomato over the "unsustainable" deep discounts offered by the aggregators, saying the table reservation services were hurting their business model.
