Netflix has today emerged as one of the largest online video streaming companies around the world. Keeping in mind, how today’s generation loves to binge-watch content, Netflix and other online video streaming platforms are gradually emerging big in India.

Reportedly, Netflix’s CEO, Reed Hastings has recently said that telecom companies should learn from how Reliance Jio has made internet accessible to people across India at such a low price. CEO Hastings further pointed out that India is a very relevant market for Netflix, considering the rich heritage and years of story-telling.

For 2017, it was reported that Netflix has produced enough content in the year, for people to rack up 50 billion viewing hours. In 2018, Netflix has a marketing budget of $8 billion and it wants to release more content, which includes 700 TV, film, and stand-up comedy projects this year.

Netflix entered India in 2015 and was considered as a threat in the market, which already had players like Hotstar. Lately, Netflix has been using a mix of interesting marketing techniques to garner the attention of the audience in the hugely competitive space.
