Ajmer, April 25: A loan applicant enraged by the rejection of his application ended up throwing acid on the bank manager. The incident was reported from Ajmer's Gandhi Nagar area on Tuesday. The attacker has been taken into custody by the police.

Sunny Punjabi, a resident of Bapu Nagar locality, had applied for a loan of Rs 2 lakh under the MUDRA Yojana at the Union Bank of India branch in Gandhi Nagar. The applicant was frustrated after his loan plea was declined despite making several rounds to the bank, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajender Singh.

Preliminary investigation of the police revealed that Punjabi, 29, visited the bank to know the status of his loan application. The bank manager, Tarun Sagar, told him that he is ineligible to receive the loan under MUDRA Yojana.

Unable to control his rage, Punjabi stepped out of the bank only to return with an acid bottle. The acid thrown by him dropped on the eyes of Sagar, who was immediately rushed to the nearest medical facility. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
