Ramchandra Singhdeo, Former & First Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh Passes Away in Raipur

He was Minister of Water Resources in Madhya Pradesh prior to the formation of the new state.

Raipur, July 20:  Ramchandra Singhdeo, former and first Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh has passed away at 1:30 am at a hospital in Raipur. According to reports, the final rites will take place today, and his body will be brought to the Congress Bhavan.

Singhdeo was not keeping well for some time and was admitted to the hospital because he was facing difficulty in breathing. As a result of which, he was admitted to Ramkrishna Hospital in the city on Wednesday. His condition started to deteriorate, and he was kept on the ventilator.

Singhdeo was regarded as a leader who understood the problems of the common man and was also willing to take up issues concerning their welfare against the party line. He was known for his bold stand on various topics including relief and rehabilitation of oustees of major dam projects in Madhya Pradesh and other social problems.

He was born on February 13, 1930, at Baikuntpur, and completed his Masters degree in Science and later went on to take a doctorate (PhD) in life science. He was Minister of Water Resources in Madhya Pradesh before the formation of the new state.
