As per the law passed earlier by Jaipur's civic body, a fine of Rs 200 is to be levied from those caught urinating in the public.
Jaipur, Feb 15: In a major embarrassment to the Vasundhara Raje-led government in the state, Rajasthan's Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf was caught on camera urinating on the walls of Jaipur. The images which went viral on social media drew massive flak towards the ruling BJP, with the prime opposition - Congress- taking potshot at the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan campaign.
"The government talks about Swachh Bharat Mission but its health minister here in Rajasthan is caught urinating in public. The government should be ashamed and must publicly apologise," Congress leader Raghu Sharma was reported as saying by news agency ANI.
The images of the Minister urinating was first reported on Wednesday. On being asked by reporters about the incident, Saraf shrugged away the question saying "it is not a big issue".
As per the law in place, a fine of Rs 200 is to be levied from those caught urinating in the public.
The picture which has caused embarrassment to the BJP also comes at a time when a section of the party's state unit has voiced concern against the "anti-incumbency sentiment" brewing against Raje-led regime.
Two prominent regional leaders of the party - Ashok Choudhary and MLA Gyandev Ahuja have demanded BJP chief Amit Shah to rejig the party's leadership in the state, ahead of the crucial assembly polls later this year.
