Jaipur, July 3: The son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dhan Singh Rawat who allegedly thrashed a man for not allowing him to pass through, appeared before police on Tuesday. Rawat is a BJP MLA from Rajasthan’s Banswara. The accused Rajveer appeared before police days after the video of him slapping the man surfaced on social media.

Speaking to media Rajveer said, “I had expressed regret that day itself and again express regret today. The incident had happened in a fit of rage. Even husband-wife fight but patch up later.” Yesterday, Rawat asked media people not to make an issue of this. He said, “It is a matter related to children. We should not get involved in their matter. If there was a scuffle, it was wrong but we should not make a mountain out of a molehill.”

"I was going in my car on a one-way road. They didn't get side to overtake. We just had an argument. I don't want to file any case. They were seven-eight people," reported news agency ANI quoting victin Neerav Upadhyay. The incident took place on June 1, in Baswara’s Vidyut colony.

In the CCTV footage, it could be clearly seen that Rajveer overtook the swift. After blocking its way, the MLA’s son came out of his Mahindra Scorpio. He dragged the driver out of the car and started slapping him. His supporters also damaged the car of the victim. The Congress alleged the BJP of shielding the accused. Sachin Pilot has urged chief minister Vasundhara Raje to take action against Rajveer.
