Pune, July 15: The Indian Railways has issued orders to only stock its proprietary bottled water brand Rail Neer, and not any other brand in Pune. However, according to the latest report in Indian Express, due to a shortage in the supply of ‘Rail Neer’, the Central Railway has allowed the sale of five other brands at various railway stations, except Pune railway station, for a limited time period. Central Railway Releases New Time Table From July 1, 2019; Check Revised Schedule And Train Timings.

All other bottled water brands will be banned from July 20. In order to ensure that passengers receive safe and affordable drinking water, and weed out fake water-bottle brands, the divisional railway manager’s (DRM) office, Pune, had passed an order stating that only Rail Neer, railway’s proprietary bottled drinking water, should be sold at platforms and in all trains.

Rail Neer, a product of the Indian Railways is priced at Rs 15 for a bottle, which is cheaper than other brands being sold by the vendors at the station platforms. Divisional railway manager Milind Deouskar and senior divisional commercial officer Sunil Mishra have taken up the project and have instructed the ground staff and also the ticket checker to keep an eye on any vendors found to be selling bottled water apart from Rail Neer.

In order to ensure the project is implemented successfully, several teams have been deployed to keep a tab on those selling bottled water at the station and in the trains. Brand Oxymore will be sold till July 14, while other brands like Aquafina and Health Plus can sell their bottles till July 20, following which their sale will be banned on the station premises.
