Mumbai, October 9: In a shocking incident, police have rescued a python from Bandra Kurla Complex last night. This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place. In a recent incident, just a few hours prior to very popular half-marathon (21 km) race at BKC on September 30, there was a telephone call to an animal rescue organisation. According to a Mid Day report, a rock python was caught, which weighed 13 kilos. It is the biggest non-venomous Indian snake, which can grow up to a size of 18 feet long. The snake was caught before people gathered on the spot. The snake even though is non-venomous, but it could wrap around the entire body of a person, and with its immense strength it can choke the person immediately.

Earlier this year, three pythons were rescued from Bandra Kurla Complex, and a fourth one slipped into the nearby mangroves.

The pythons were rescued after pedestrians spotted them on the footpath near Dharavi T-junction, and dialled 1916 to alert the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell.
