Over 80 Women Prisoners of Byculla Jail Admitted to JJ Hospital in Mumbai, Due to Severe Abdominal Pain & Vomiting
There is no news on whether Indrani Mukerjea who is also in the Byculla Jail is among the 50 patients.
Mumbai, July 20: In a shocking incident from Mumbai, more than 80 prisoners of Byculla Jail have been admitted to JJ Hospital. According to an ANI report, after complaining of vomiting and abdominal pain, the prisoners were taken to the hospital. It is an alleged case of food poisoning, because the inmates were provided breakfast, and soon after that they had to be rushed to the hospital . The reason behind their illness is yet to be ascertained only after reports come, and the patients will be kept under observation for 48 hours, according to Dr Wiqar Sheikh.
According to a Mid Day report, the resident doctors at the hospital are trying to revive the patients. The probability of water contaminated inside the prison cannot be ruled out, as per a senior doctor, who has confirmed on the incident.
More details on the same are awaited. There is no news on whether Indrani Mukerjea who is also in the Byculla Jail is among the 50 patients. There has been a lot of controversy about her health, and in many instances, there have been reports that she was drugged inside the jail. Last year, jailors of Byculla station in Mumbai beat up convict Manjula Shetye brutally for complaining about two eggs and five pieces of pav (bread) missing from morning ration.
