Chhattisgarh, August 3: It has turned into a source of huge embarrassment for Chhattisgarh government teachers, because the tablets which they were handed out to mark the attendance of the students is facing a bizarre snag. According to a Times of India report, whenever the tablets are switched on, an obscene picture pops up on the landing screen.

The problem started reportedly after the principal clicked on spam or an xxx link. A teacher quoted in the report said, "This is too embarrassing for us. That too at a place where children can come in contact with these devices. Perhaps, the government can reconsider the use of tablets for biometric attendance. Women colleagues don’t even want to look at it, far less give their thumbprint. You can’t blame them."

Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) helpline number has been flooded with calls over the last few days. The experts are trying to solve the issue at the earliest. “Over 270 cases have already been resolved. IT experts are visiting schools to address complaints. All the tablets will be ready to use without hassle in a day or two,” Shalakosh project head Nilesh Soni as quoted in the TOI report.

“We are trying to get to the root to see where and how it started, but it’s clear that someone clicked on spam that had porn pictures. Very often, such content gets installed and saved in the operating system or hard disk. Something similar has happened here." As part of the project Shalakosh, more than 51,000 tablets were distributed in schools.
