YS Jagan Reddy Completes Longest 'Padayatra' Covering 3,648 km in 341 Days; YSR Congress Chief Assures Decentralisation of Governance in Andhra Pradesh
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has set a record of the longest ‘padayatra’ by any politician in the country. He concluded his march today at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district, near the Odisha border after covering 3,648 km in 341 days.

He concluded his march today at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district, near the Odisha border after covering 3,648 km in 341 days. The long march of the YSR Congress President concluded into an assurance of better governance to the doorstep through decentralisation of administration and increasing the districts from 13 to 25 for efficiency.
While addressing a rally, Reddy showed the confidence of coming to power in the upcoming assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh. The leader of opposition said that though the Praja Sankalpa Yatra has concluded the fight for justice continues. He also accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of cheating all the sections of people. The YSR Congress volunteers would also cover 50 houses in every village and coordinate with Village Secretariat for reaching out to the local population. The party also alleged that corruption has been rampant in the state and Naidu has turned financier to others during elections. Reddy said, “Throughout my 14-month Padayatra, which was a great experience, I was told by people belonging to various sections, trades and professions about their hardships which has strengthened my resolve to further fight the sly means of Chandrababu Naidu government and I appeal to the people to join hands in the fight for justice.” Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Calls PM Narendra Modi a ‘Blackmailer’.
The opposition party in a statement said that Agriculture, education, health, artisans, small industries and cooperative sector have been totally neglected by Chandrababu Naidu government. The YSR Congress president embarked on the ‘padayatra’ on November 6, 2017, from Idupulapaya, a native village of father Dr Y S Rajashekara Reddy in Kadapa district. The party claimed that a total of two crore people were involved in the yatra. Reddy covered 134 constituencies of 13 districts on foot.
