Bengaluru, July 26: With just an hour before taking the oath ceremony as the new chief minister of Karnataka, BSY is not leaving any stones unturned. The three-time Chief Minister has changed his name from Yeddyurappa to Yediyurappa, replacing one 'd’ with ‘i’. In a letter to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, BJP state chief requested to permit swearing-in ceremony and signed it with new spelling Yediyurappa. According to reports, the MLA from Shikaripura has changed his name to BS Yeddyurappa, apparently on the advice of an astrologer. He, however, changed his name before the oath ceremony. Notably, he has used the latest spelling mostly, from winning the first election in 1975 till he became CM in 2007. The year-old Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government headed by HD Kumaraswamy collapsed on Tuesday after they lost trust vote in the assembly following the week-long power struggle. Yeddyurappa said that he will also invite outgoing CM Kumaraswamy and Congress leader Siddaramaiah personally over the phone for the swearing-in ceremony.
Interestingly, Bhookanakere Siddalingappa Yediyurappa was named after the village deity of Yediyur village in Karnataka's Tumkur district. Meanwhile, his official Twitter account has been updated with ‘BS Yediyurappa’ just an hour before taking the premier position.
