Winter Session of Parliament Begins; PM Narendra Modi Calls For 'Frank Discussions on All Matters'
Ahead of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for frank discussions on all matter. Speaking to reporters, PM Modi said, “It is important that there should be quality debates, there should be dialogues and discussions.”
New Delhi, November 18: Ahead of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for frank discussions on all matter. Speaking to reporters, PM Modi said, “It is important that there should be quality debates, there should be dialogues and discussions.” He further added that everyone should contribute to enriching the discussions in the Parliament. PM Modi termed the last session of Parliament as “phenomenal”. He stated, “In the past few days I had the opportunity to meet leaders of almost all political parties. The last session was phenomenal due to the support of and active participation of all MPs, that is an achievement of not only the government or the treasury bench but the entire Parliament.” The Prime Minister also told media that during the winter session, on November 26, the government would be observed the Constitution Day.”
PM Modi's Interaction With Reporters:
He said, “This is the last Parliament session of 2019. It is very important because this is the 250th Parliament session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session, on 26th, we will observe Constitution Day - when our Constitution completes its 70 years.” It is the second session of Parliament after the Modi government came to power in May. A total of 35 bills will be taken up for discussion. The Chit Funds (Amendment) Bill, 2019, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2019 are among the important legislations that are likely to be passed during this session. In the first session of Parliament important bills including enacting a law to penalise Triple Talaq and the UAPA law.
