New Delhi, August 28: Union Minister of Railways on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government is in the process of installing WiFi at 6000 railway stations across India. Minister Piyush Goyal, while addressing the media in New Delhi, said that the WiFi facility will not only make the travel easier for passengers, but also give them an opportunity to know more about their area of work.
Railway Minister Goyal added that he believed the move to install WiFi at railway stations across the country will be of special help to people living in the villages. He also said that children, farmers, and working women would benefit immensely from the decision to have WiFi facility at the stations.
The Railway Minister also added that the railway ministry is planning to roll out Bio- vacuum toilets in train coaches, which will be similar to those in the airplanes.
The Railway Minister was asked about the helpline service that was to begin earlier, as the minister had announced. But the service has not been launched yet. Goyal said that the helpline service is stuck due to technical issues and that it would soon begin.
In July, the Indian Railways had carried out major maintenance work for the tracks as it introduced five new track maintenance machines in order to completely mechanize the monitoring, relaying and maintenance of the railway tracks.
