Mumbai, June 18: "Who is the Finance Minister of India," the Congress on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify as government websites carried different pieces of information. "Who is Finance Minister of India? PMO's website says one thing, Finance Ministry website tells another story. The gentleman designated without portfolio on PMO website, is holding meetings via video conf. PM needs to tell country who is his Finance Minister," Congress leader Manish Tewari said today.

After doing a check of both the websites, it was found that while the PMO website pmindia.gov.in names Arun Jaitley as 'Minister Without Portfolio' while the Finance Minister website finmin.nic.in names him as the Minister of Finance. The PMO website states Piyush Goyal as the Minister of Finance.

Goyal was given charge of the Finance Ministry after Jaitley underwent a kidney transplant surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and has been on recovery. Over the past one week, Jaitley has written blogs on Facebook slamming the Congress and talking about economy. After his previous blog slamming the Opposition, the Congress had lashed out at him taking a 'minister without portfolio' dig at him.

On Monday, too, Arun Jaitley said 7.7 percent economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2017-18 ‘firmly’ established India as the fastest growing major economy in the world and the trend is likely to continue for some years. Through a blog on Facebook, Jaitley expressed his views. "With structural reforms like demonetisation, implementation of GST & enforcement of the IBC, Indian economy is moving steadily ahead, and empowering every citizen," he added.
