Mumbai, November 12: Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique, also known as Mufti Ismail, the sitting MLA of Malegaon Central, allegedly suffered a heart attack while campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024. After Mufti suffered a heart attack, he was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai for treatment. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) recently fielded its sitting MLA as its candidate from the Malegaon Central assembly constituency for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique complained of chest pain on Monday, November 11, while campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra. Post this, he was admitted to a hospital in Malegaon. However, he was soon referred to a hospital in Mumbai after his condition worsened and he suffered a second heart attack. Sources close to the development said that the two-time MLA was moved to Mumbai on Tuesday morning, November 12. Soon after news about Khalique's health spread, other candidates in the Malegaon Central constituency halted their election campaign as a mark of respect.
