Mumbai, November 8: Taking a dig at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday asked when the state government would change names of Aurangabad And Osmanabad districts. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath renamed Faizabad and Allahabad and asked when this will happen with Aurangabad And Osmanabad.

“Yogi Adityanath has renamed Allahabad and Faizabad to Pragyaraj and Ayodhya. When will CM Devendra Fadnavis rename Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv Nagar?” asked Raut in a tweet in Hindi. Shiv Sena has been demanding to change names of the two districts for two decades. The Maharashtra government didn't respond to Raut's remarks. After Allahabad, Yogi Adityanath Administration in UP to Rename Sultanpur as Kushbhavanpur.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat government is considering to rename Ahmedabad as Karnavati. "We are contemplating changing the name of Ahmedabad to Karnavati, the talks of which have been going on since a long time. Concrete steps will be taken after looking at it from legal and all other angles. We will think about it in the time to come," CM Vijay Rupani told the media today.

Earlier, Gujarat deputy CM Nitin Patel echoed similar views on changing the name of Ahmedabad city. "If we get to support people to support the legal process we are ready to change the name of the city. People of Ahmedabad like the name Karnavati. Whenever the time is appropriate we will change the name," Patel told news agency ANI.

On November 6, UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced to rename Faizabad as Ayodhya. The Uttar Pradesh government has recently changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj saying the name holds great significance to India. The Mughalsarai Railway Station was also renamed as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction earlier in the year.
