Kolkata, June 23: A day after three-member BJP delegation on Saturday visited violence-hit Bhatpara in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, state party chief Dilip Ghosh sought a CBI inquiry into the incident in Bhatpara where two BJP workers were killed.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Ghosh said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "We demand CBI inquiry into the incident in Bhatpara. Even the DG is not able to enter that place. Why is it taking so long?" BJP Delegation Visits West Bengal's Violence-Hit Bhatpara, Demands Probe into Killings
He also announced that there would be gherao of SP office scheduled on Monday. Ghosh said, "Tomorrow there is a gherao of SP office over the violence in the state. Besides Bankura, Bhatpara there are places where people are being killed. That's why people are their losing trust in this government."
Earlier on Saturday three-member delegation, comprising BJP MPs SS Ahluwalia, Satya Pal Singh and Vishnu Dayal Ram, visited the house of the two deceased - Rambabu Shaw and Dharambir Shaw- in Bhatpara and said the bereaved families would be given financial aid of Rs 10 lakh each.
Speaking to the media, Ahluwalia said, "When the clash between two groups took place, police baton-charged one group and shot at the other. We want to know who took that decision? Who was behind this conspiracy? There should be a thorough probe into this. We will submit the report to (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah and apprise him of the on-ground situation here." Following the repeat of the violent incident, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sat in a meeting with the police chief, the Chief Secretary and other top officials.
