Purulia, May 31: In a shocking incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was found dead in Purulia’s Balarampur town in West Bengal on Tuesday. According to reports, the body of the deceased was found hanging from a tree with a note on his t-shirt which read “BJP politics at only 18 years …”.
Also, a poster that was found nearby area had a message in Bengali that read, “This is for doing BJP politics from age 18. Been trying to kill you since the vote. Today you are dead.”

According to reports, the BJP has claimed that victim, who has been identified as Trilochan Mahato, was killed because he had worked hard for the party in the panchayat election. According to a report by News18, BJP district head Vidyasagar Chakraborty said after poor show in Purulia in the Panchayat election, Trinamool Congress workers are threatening our supporters. “Yesterday, they abducted Trilochan and killed him brutally. His body was hanged from a tree,” he added.
In wake of the deadly incident, a large number of BJP workers took out protest rallies across the district on Wednesday. BJP president Amit Shah also took to micro-blogging site Twitter and expressed anguish over the brutal incident. Shah said he was deeply hurt by the incident. “Deeply hurt by the brutal killing of our young karyakarta, Trilochan Mahato, in Balarampur, West Bengal. A young life full of possibilities was brutally taken under state’s patronage. He was hanged on a tree just because his ideology differed from that of state-sponsored goons,” Shah wrote on Twitter.
In his tweets, Shah said the life of young BJP worker, Trilochan Mahato, was “taken under the state’s patronage” because his ideology was different from that of “state-sponsored goons”. Shah also alleged that the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal has “surpassed the violent legacy of the communist rule” as he attacked it over the suspected killing of his party worker.
