Kolkata, December 24: West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh, in a controversial statement made in Birbhum district, told the police that "they aren't worth wearing the uniform" as "people from Jharkhand are coming here (WB) and making bombs." Ghosh then went ahead to say that all the people making bombs are "from TMC." Ghosh allegedly made the comment while speaking at an event on December 22, reported news agency ANI. The Bengal police in April had launched a massive operation to sanitise the Bengal-Jharkhand border in Birbhum district after several instances of violence were reported from the area before the 2018 Panchayat Elections. Bombs were hurled in Birbhum in April this year, after clash broke out between the BJP and TMC workers over filing of nominations for the Panchayat polls held in Bengal earlier in the year. The bench, headed by Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Debasish Kar Gupta, on Friday quashed the order of the court's single bench allowing the BJP to hold its yatra. The single-judge bench, which gave a green signal to the yatra, was asked to reconsider the case based on intelligence input. The division bench was hearing a plea filed by the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government.
