New Delhi, September 26: Working President of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) JP Nadda has sent out a list of instructions to leaders and workers ahead of the party's 15-day-long padayatra to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Nadda has asked BJP leaders and workers to wear Khadi and chant slogans referring to Mahatma Gandhi, including Bharat Mata Ki Jai. As part of padayatra, BJP leader leaders walk around 10 kilometres per day for 15 days. Amit Shah to Address BJP MPs on September 21 Ahead of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Birth Anniversary.
The padayatra will be part of the BJP's Gandhi Sankalp Yatra, which will begin on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, and end on Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary, January 30, 2020. During the padayatra, BJP leaders have been asked to cover a minimum distance of 75 kms and a maximum of 225 kms in 15 days. They have been instructed to wear only Khadi clothes and carry Khadi bags. The BJP aims to visit 2,90,610 villages across the country during the exercise.
During their visit to villages, BJP leaders will speak on Mahatma Gandhi's ideas and how they connect with the Modi government's key welfare schemes like Ujjawala Yojna, Grameen Awaas Yojna, Make In India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. They will eat their breakfast, lunch and dinner at villages while interacting with locals. The leaders are also expected to sleep at the last village of the day's trip, India Today reported.
BJP leaders have been asked to highlight their activities on social media. Nadda's instructions mention that the yatra will establish the BJP as a true heir of Mahatma Gandhi's ideals.
