Mumbai, September 27: The Warora seat is one of 288 seats in Maharashtra assembly. In Warora constituency, the electoral contest was between the Shiv Sena and the Congress. Both the parties snapped ties with their traditional allies (Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and contested the 2014 polls on their own. Shiv Sena's Suresh Alias Balubhau Narayan Dhanorkar was elected as an MLA. This time, however, the Shiv Sena has again joined hands with the BJP. Congress's Dhanokar Pratibha Suresh won the MLA seat from Warora. The Election Commission announced the schedule of Maharashtra assembly elections on September 21. As per the schedule, the last date for filing nominations was October 4, while candidatures were allowed to withdraw nominations by October 7. Polling was held on October 21, while the counting of votes took place on October 24. The results were declared on October 24. The term of Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9. In 2014, the BJP emerged as single largest party winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena bagged 63 seats, whereas the Congress won 42. The NCP secured 41 seats. Bahujan Vikash Aghadi and the PWP won three seats each. AIMIM managed to bag two seats. Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents were also elected.
