Mumbai, September 27: The Wani Vidhan Sabha seat in Maharashtra's Yavatmahal district will go to polls on October 21. The sitting MLA from Wani constituency is Bodkurwar Sanjivreddi Bapurao of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shiv Sena's Nandekar Vishvas Ramchandra came second in the 2014 Maharashtra assembly election. This time, the BJP and the Shiv Sena have decided to join hands and contest polls together. Similarly, Congress has formed an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). According to the schedule of Maharashtra polls announced by the Election Commission, nomination papers can be filed till October 4. The poll panel will scrutinise nominations on October 5. Candidates can withdraw candidature till October 7. Voting will take place on October 21. The Election Commission will count votes on October 24 and announce results on the same day. In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP emerged as single largest party winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena came second with 63 seats, whereas the Congress bagged 42. The NCP could win 41 seats. Bahujan Vikash Aghadi and the PWP won three seats each. AIMIM candidates were elected from two constituencies.

Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven seats went to independents.
