Prime Minister Narendra Modi won from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi defeated Samajwadi party candidate Shalini Yadav with a humongous margin of 4,79,505 votes. The counting of votes took place today, May 23. Voting took place for the  Varanasi seat in the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 19. A total voter turnout of 54.37 per cent was recorded in this phase of polling in UP, as per Election Commission of India.

Varanasi constituency is one of the eighty Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities in the world and has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood for the elections as a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
