Addressing PM Modi in a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said the Congress is finding a way to make the 'Make in India' project a success.
New Delhi, February 16: Hours after the indigenously built Vande Bharat Express suffered a break down during a trial run on Saturday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi expressed his concern over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious 'Make in India' initiative. Addressing PM Modi in a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said the Congress is finding a way to make the 'Make in India' project a success.
"Modi ji, i think Make in India needs a serious rethink. Most people feel it has failed. I assure you we in the Congress are thinking very deeply about how it will be done (sic)," Gandhi tweeted. After the much-hyped flagging off by PM Modi, the high-speed Vande Bharat Express to Varanasi, the train suffered a break down on Saturday early morning at Chamraula on its empty return journey to Delhi, getting stuck for more than three hours.
Here's what Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Vande Bharat Express Breakdown:
Train 18, as it was formerly called, broke down about 194 km away from Delhi and 18 km away from Tundla railway station in Uttar Pradesh. Reports said the train's wheels started skidding after it ran over some livestock. However, the Railway Ministry didn't confirm these reports, adding that the Vande Bharat Express is "ready" for its first commercial run, scheduled on Sunday. "During the transportation back from Varanasi, it was stopped at Chamraula station as there was an issue of communication between the last basic unit of four coaches and the rest of the train, probably due to some external hit. Thereafter, safety features in the train applied the brakes. The train was checked for faults and moved to Delhi," Railway Ministry spokesperson Smita Vats Sharma said in a statement. On Saturday, the train was flagged off by Modi from New Delhi Railway Station at 11.20 a.m. The 16-coach train will have two executive compartments with 52 seats each and chair car coaches with 78 seats each.
