Jaipur, February 13: The ruling Congress government in Rajasthan reversed the decision of the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to celebrate February 14 as Parents’ Day. Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra termed the order of the previous government to celebrate 'Matra Pitra Diwas' in schools as ‘drama’. Tired of Valentine's Day 2019 Wishes and Greetings? The Rajasthan Minister said that no particular day should be celebrated as ‘Parents’ Day’ as we, in India worship our parents daily. Dostara further added that his government would not make it compulsory to celebrated February 14 as ‘Parents’ Day’. The Congress government's decision has given birth to a political issue. February 14 is celebrated as Valentine's Day, a day to express love all across the globe.

Govind Singh Dotasra's statement:

Meanwhile, last month reports surfaced that Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama had written in Gujarati to the Motera unit of Asaram Bapu's ashram commending it for organising the 'Matru Pitru Divas' or 'worship your Parents’ Day' and called it a "noble act." "One who takes care of the mother, father and guru himself is respected. Your organisation has started a new initiative to celebrate Matru-Pitru Divas (Mother-Father Day) on February 14, 2019, which is commendable," Chudasama wrote.
