BJP national secretary Tirath Singh Rawat is leading by 2,85,003 votes over his Congress rival and sitting BJP Pauri Garhwal MP B C Khanduri's son Manish Khanduri in the constituency.

The BJP led ahead on all five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand with its candidates maintaining comfortable leads over nearest rivals from the Congress party in the hill state. State BJP president Ajay Bhatt is leading with a margin of 218992 votes over Congress general secretary and former chief minister Harish Rawat in the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar seat.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) had won all the five seats in Uttarakhand. Even five years earlier, in 2009, the Congress had won all five seats in the state. The BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to retain power in the state.

In Garhwal, Tirath Singh Rawat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading from the seat. He has been fielded against Congress candidate Manish Khanduri.

According to latest trends, BJP is leading in four seats while Congress is leading in just 1. BJP is again virtually locked in a straight fight with Congress in all the five seats - Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Almora and Nainital - where candidates are crisscrossing the length and breadth of the hill state to garner support in their favour on the last few days of the campaign.

In Uttarakhand, there is a straight contest between the arch rivals BJP and Congress. The state will go to the polls to elect five members of the Lok Sabha on Thursday in the first phase of the election. The five seats that went to poll during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections include- Tehri Garhwal, Garhwal, Almora, Nainital–Udhamsingh Nagar and Hardwar. In Uttarakhand, all the five parliamentary constituencies went to polls in the first phase on April 11. Reports inform that a total of 78.56 lakh voters will cast their franchise in the hill state where 52 candidates are trying their luck at the hustings. However, major focus will be on Nainital where Congress General Secretary and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat is facing a stiff challenge from the BJP state unit chief Ajay Bhatt. The BJP is also banking on the support of its 57 MLAs in the state to drum up support for the party's candidates. Congress has omly 11 MLAs in the state.The BJP is facing a tough fight against the Congress in four seats. The contest is triangular only in the Haridwar seat with the BSP giving anxious moments to both BJP and Congress. In Haridwar, Former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Naishank of the BJP has locked horns with Congress' Ambrish Kumar and BSP's Antriksh Saini.
