Lucknow, April 18: Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the eight Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh is underway. Polling is taking place on the eight Lok Sabha constituencies in UP. The constituencies are: Nagina, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha constituencies. The total voter turnout registered in UP is 58.12 percent for the eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
There are a total of 85 candidates in the fray from the eight poll-bound constituencies. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. A total of 16,162 polling booths in 8,751 polling centres have been earmarked in UP for the smooth conduct of elections in this phase. To keep miscreants at bay, nearly 1 lakh security personnel have been deployed on poll duty. The phase 2 of polls in Western UP is important for the Narendra Modi-led BJP, which won all of these seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
From Nagina, the Congress has given ticket to Omvati Devi, the Bahujan Samaj Party to Girish Chandra. Yashwant Singh, the sitting BJP MP from the seat, will also be contesting the elections this time.
From Amroha, the Congress has given ticket to Sachin Choudhary. The Bahujan Samaj Party has nominated Kunwar Danish Ali. The BJP's candidate is the sitting MP from the seat, Kanwar Singh Tanwar.
From Bulandshahr, the Congress has given ticket to Banshi Singh. The Bahujan Samaj Party has nominated Yogesh Verma. The BJP's candidate is the sitting MP from the seat, Bhola Singh.
From Aligarh, the BJP's candidate is Satish Kumar Gautam. The Congress's candidate is Brijender Singh. While the Mahagathbandhan- SP and BSP alliance candidate from the seat is Ajit Baliyan.
From Hathras, the BJP's candidate is Rajveer Singh Balmiki (Diler). The Congress's candidate is Trilokiram Diwakar. While the Mahagathbandhan- SP and BSP alliance candidate from the seat is Ramji Lal Suman of SP.
From Mathura, the BJP's candidate is Hema Malini, the sitting MP from the seat. The Congress's candidate is Mahesh Pathak. While the Ajit Singh led RLD has declared Kunwar Narendra Singh as the candidate from this seat.
From Agra, the BJP's candidate is SP Singh Baghel. The Congress's candidate is Preeta Harit. While the Mahagathbandhan- SP and BSP alliance candidate from the seat is Manoj Kumar Soni of the BSP.
From Fatehpur Sikri, the BJP's candidate from the seat is Raj Kumar Chaher. The Indian National Congress has given ticket to Raj Babbar, it party unit chief in UP. While the Mahagathbandhan- SP and BSP alliance candidate from the seat is SP's Shreebhagwan Sharma.
Voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will take place in seven phases. While the first phase of voting is being held today, the last phase of voting will take place on May 19.
