Lucknow, February 7: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday will present its budget for fiscal 2019-20, state Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal had informed on Monday. The Budget Session of Uttar Pradesh legislature began on Tuesday with Governor Ram Naik’s address to the joint sitting of its two Houses. The Session is likely to continue till February 22.

This will be the third budget of the Yogi Adityanath government. The state budget comes ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and is believed to focus on farmers and agriculture and job creation schemes.

According to reports, the other issues to be raised by the opposition during the budget are farmers’ distress, delay in payment of sugarcane arrears, unemployment and stray cattle menace. On Tuesday, during the first day of the budget session, the opposition members hurled paper balls towards the podium as Uttar Pradesh Governor addressed a joint sitting of the state legislature.
