Uttar Pradesh, Bihar Legislative Council Elections 2018: BJP Releases Full List of Candidates

New Delhi, April 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the full list of candidates for the upcoming legislative council elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The two states are slated to go into biennial polls on April 26, with the results being declared on the same day.

A total of 13 seats would be contested in the UP Legislative Council, whereas, 11 are up for grabs in Bihar. As per the BJP's electoral strength in the respective Legislative Assemblies, the party has nominated 10 candidates in UP and 3 in Bihar.

Among those re-nominated from UP include Bukkal Nawab, Mahendra Singh and Mohsin Raja, who are Ministers in the Yogi Adityanath-led government in the state. From Bihar, the party's list of candidates comprises of Mangal Pandey and Sanjay Paswan, who are MoS in the Nitish Kumar government, along with Sushil Kumar Modi, the incumbent Deputy Chief Minister.

The current term of legislators from the 13 seats in UP and 11 seats in Bihar are scheduled to end on May 5 and May 6 respectively.
