Upendra Kushwaha Quits PM Narendra Modi's Cabinet, Says BJP Tried to Destroy RLSP

New Delhi, December 10: Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) Chief Upendra Kushwaha on Monday quit the BJP-led NDA and resigned as the Union Minister. Kushwaha has been the Minister of State for HRD in Government of India and is the Member of Parliament From Karakat Lok Sabha in Rohtas district of Bihar. According to a tweet by ANI,  Kushwaha was quoted saying that the BJP has always tried to destroy the RLSP in many ways. "Koshish inki (BJP) nirantar rahi hamari party ko barbad karne ka, Nitish ji ki alag koshish rahi aur dono mil gaye. Nitish ji ke saath khade huye BJP ke log, aur mera apmaan shuru ho gaya. Nitish ji ne saarvjanik roop se mujhe neech keh ke sambodhit kiya", the RLSP Chief said.

The resignation comes just a day before assembly elections results of five states- Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Mizoram are to be declared. There are reports that the RLSP may join hands with the opposition including Lalu Prasad's RJD and the Congress. According to reports, the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party chief has been targeting the BJP and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a key ally of the ruling party, for weeks. Kushwaha has been upset with the BJP after the party stated that that the RLSP would not be given more than two seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Reports inform that the BJP went out of the way to accommodate Kumar by agreeing that the saffron party and the JD(U) would fight an equal number of seats.
