New Delhi, July 20: President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday appointed new Governors for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland, West Bengal and Tripura states. Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel is transferred and appointed as Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Senior Supreme Court advocate Jagdeep Dhankhar is the new Governor of West Bengal, replacing Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Bihar Governor Lal Ji Tandon has now appointed as Governor of Madhya Pradesh. In place of Tandon, President Kovind appointed Phagu Chauhan as Governor of Bihar. RN Ravi has been appointed as Governor of Nagaland. Ramesh Bais is the new Governor of Tripura. Bais replaces Kaptan Singh Solanki. The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.

Last week, BJP leaders Anusuiya Uikey and Biswa Bhusan Harichandan were appointed as governors of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Harichandan, who is a BJP leader from Odisha, replaced ESL Narasimhan, who was the governor of Andhra Pradesh for the last decade. The post of Chhattisgarh governor was under the additional charge of Governor Anandiben Patel.
