New Delhi, August 1: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered to transfer all five cases linked to the Unnao rape survivor from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. The apex court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete probe into the road accident, which left the rape survivor in critical condition, within seven days. It also set a 45-day deadline for completion of the trial in these cases.

The five cases related to the Unnao rape survivor include Rape and kidnapping, Gangrape, Murder in custody of survivor father, Arms Act slapped on survivor father, and the car crash. The top court further ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to pay an interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the rape survivor by tomorrow. It also ordered to provide CRPF protection to the victim, her mother, four siblings, her lawyer Mahendra Singh and his family members. Unnao Rape Survivor Health Update: Victim, Lawyer Remain Unconscious, But Condition Stable, Says Hospital.

Earlier today, the bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi hauled up the Registry for the delay in producing a letter the victim wrote to the court seeking protection. In the letter to the CJI Gogoi, the young rape victim, her mother, sister, uncle and aunt alleged that the henchmen of the accused, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, were threatening to implicate them in false cases if they did not settle the case. Unnao Rape Survivor Accident: Victim's Car Was Over-Speeding, Driver Panicked Seeing Truck Coming From Wrong Side, Finds CBI.

The court also sought full details of the status of the investigation into the rape case along with the accident case from the CBI. Meanwhile, the BJP expelled Sengar from the party today. Sengar is a four-time MLA, who represents the Bangermau constituency in the UP assembly. The demand for Sengar’s expulsion from the ruling BJP was led by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

"For Gods sake, Mr. Prime Minister, divest this criminal and his brother of the political power your party is giving them," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted on Monday. On Sunday, the rape victim, who had accused Sengar of raping her in 2017, was travelling to Rae Bareli with her lawyer Mahendra Singh and two aunts when a truck being driven on the wrong side hit them. While her aunts died on the spot, the rape survivor and the advocate is battling for their lives.
