New Delhi, January 31: Rajiv Kumar, vice chairman, Niti Aayog, said that there is no job crisis in the country and refuted the Business Standard report which earlier said that unemployment rate in the country is at an all time high of 45 years. The report created a furore with unemployment becoming a talking point on the social media in no time. #HowsTheJobs: Congress Cites Report Claiming Unemployment at 45-Year High, Rahul Gandhi Targets PM Narendra Modi Over Jobs Data.

The Niti Aayog vice chairperson also added that the methodology of calculating the unemployment rates is different now and has changed under the current government.

NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar also said that, "Government did not release the data (on jobs) as it is still being processed. When the data is ready we will release it. Data collection method is different now, we are using a computer assisted personal interview in the new survey. It is not right to compare the two data sets, this data is not verified. It is not correct to use this report as final."

The Congress on Thursday slammed the Narendra Modi government claiming that unemployment has reached a 45-year high in the country. The Congress in its tweets said, “In just 5 years, PM NoMo has devastated the economy & driven unemployment to a 45 year high. The youth of India have one question for you Modiji, #HowsTheJobs ?” The grand old party attacked the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government a day after reports surfaced that the government was delaying the publication of the National Sample Survey Office's (NSSO) employment survey for 2017-18.
