The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Nityanand Rai from Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan has fielded RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha from the seat. The last date of filing nominations for the seat was April 9. The scrutiny of nominations papers was to take place on April `10. On March 10, the Election Commission of India announced dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The elections will take place in seven phases, and the results will be declared on May 23.
